Over the past 3 weeks I have been communicating with Dawn in an effort to correlate Danae's Christmas present. I will have to say I am impressed that she finally purchased something that Danae wanted an not some crap she found in the Dollar Store!!
However this was to be their first interaction in days shy of two years so the tensions and what not are going to be high. In the past week I have gotten at least 27 calls from this woman and no less than 100 text messages. When the hell did I become her best friend? This sucks but could be worthwhile.
I just want her to do what she does best which is the bare minimum and be on her way.
On the other hand she keeps telling me all sorts of fun tidbits about her and her life....perils of wisdom for another time :)

She's Baaack
Hello folks!!!
So here we are again trying to live our lives, find steady work and balance both the checkbook and the zillions things going on with the kiddos. Can we be left alone to do so? Of course not because Dawn has decided to step out of the alley and into fantasy land.
A few month back we heard she was married and that she was a grandmother thanks to her new step kids...I laughed my ass off. Dawn's current endeavors entail attempting to obtain her class A license...ironic as she spent some quality time as a "lot lizard" some years ago. She has stated that she will be moving to Forks, WA....yes...that is Forks, WA as in the setting for the Twilight series. Her delusions are utterly amusing and she has again stated that the ultimate decision of her staying or going is left to Danae. Amazing how a child is left to make such adult decisions. Why am i surprised/??

Guardianships
When you have a child in your care and custody and the parent has left for an extended period of time it is important for you to obtain some type of guardianship of that child.
If no guardianship is established you as the caregiver of that child cannot: obtain medical care, register that child for school, and you do run the risk of that parent coming back and claiming kidnapping.
Cover your butt and get the correct paperwork on file with the court in your county. If you need help with these papers please let us know!

God Blessed the Broken Road
Some of you know that we returned to court in February to decide if the court would in fact terminate Dawn's parental rights. The day was pretty relaxed on the most part. I went to work as usual what did I have to worry about?
Our case was solid she is a crappy parent that ignores her child and expects her to love her no matter what; and when the child decides she is fed up with the whole situation you attempt to buy her things to shut her up. Who wouldn't want a mom like that? (Raises hand slowly but confidently)
There is no excuse for Dawn's behavior other than the fact that she is fighting on her behalf and not her child.
In any event the trial started...
Anthony and I both testified providing the information we thought necessary that would show the judge that Dawn has in fact abandoned Danae and that letting me adopt her would be the best thing.
Apparently in the state of California it is okay to be a crappy parent and go years without seeing your kid. I don't agree. We lost. Can we say @#!*% !!!
Yeah we lost the battle but we also won the war. We left with nothing less than what we walked in with. At the end of the day Dawn still had no additional custody or visitation rights and Danae still had no interest in seeing or communicating with her.
While the situation was bittersweet we left with smiles on our faces after the judge begged her to "do the brave and selfless thing" and terminate her rights of her own volition. She didn't agree. Big surprise!

It's Here! It's Here!!
The minors counsel report has come in and I am now no longer afraid. While I cannot divulge the details included in the report I am happy to say that I am confident in my ability to get Dawn's parental rights terminated and the adoption completed by Danae's 13th birthday!!!

Man How Time Flies
It has been forever since I updated on the chaos that is my life.
I spent the greater part of the past few months doing my student teaching and frantically trying to weave in court dates amidst the craziness. The kids are getting bigger and bigger and well the drama has multiplied as well....
Our first court date was in August as most of you know and we were carried over until mid October. When we returned to court in October we were yet again deferred to the end of November. We were held up due to the court having to investigate the situation further and determine if Danae was in fact willing to be adopted. So a few days before Turkey Day the investigator came...did her thing...and viola!!! The following week we recieved the report that specified that Danae did in fact wish to be adopted by me and that she would be able to verbalize things in court.
To bring a smile to my face I was told by our beloved attorney that we should be in the Aces once we reconvene in Feb. and Danae told Dawn on Christmas that she was in fact looking forward to the adoption!!! This is going to be great..I can't wait to see the steam in person. Ironically the most important witness that Dawn has is Terese. This should be interesting to see what facts they twisted to their advantage and to see whose side the judge favors....

Crazy...I Was Crazy Once
I am sitting here and contemplating the rumors that are currently circulating concerning the impending court date and still baffled at the audacity of Dawn's theory that our allegations are unfounded. How is it that you claim to be a great parent when you do not make a distinct effort to raise or even have communication with your child?
So I amuse myself thinking of Dawn crying in her cornflakes and @#!*% that her life is so crappy. When will this woman realize that your life is what you make it. Her life is @#!*% because she made it that way. I apologize for the vulgarity of my language but right now I am appalled at the recent events.
Dawn's step-father has been posting on her website. Oh yes the website!!! Dawn began a website for the purposes of obtaining information and soliciting funds for the return of Michelle to California from Canada. Newsflash when more than one person says you are a @#!*% parent you probably are!
In any event we were amused to find we were important enough to her and her family to be referenced several times. Apparently we are all the reasons for Dawn's inability to raise her own children. Guess what animals that eat their young are better parents than this woman.
So ends my rant for today...
